Life Advice from Reddit.com
A user on Reddit.com posted a personal story about how his life is out of order and how depressed he feels and how he believes something is wrong with him. It is a long but decent read. I thought a reply to this post was very well worded. While targeted towards this particular user, I feel that it is good advice for anyone feeling down. Here it is.
Kind of depressing, but a lot of folks have been down this path. I think most get out of it, but end up miserable for years. I don’t know your philosophy on life, or if you even have one but I can tell you how to move the ball forward just a bit. You should devote tomorrow to cleaning your apartment. Not picking it up and moving the garbage around clean it. Stop at nothing until it is perfectly spotless. When you have finished that task start to organize your life on paper. Work at it. Do it better than you have ever done anything. I am much older than you and I’ll tell you one lesson I’ve learned …
RIP George Foreman
Uh–hemmm,
Those of you who have lived with me, and those of you who let me cook for you, will not be a bit surprised to hear that I have always loved me a George Foreman Grill. Well guess what boys…there’s a new means of cooking meat in town…and its a hell of a lot more baller.
Anyone who has gone to college can attest to the convenience of the George Foreman Grill. When you decide as a bright eyed 17 year old to go to college in Rochester, New York, you don’t fully understand that having a barbecue in 40 degree weather just isn’t all its cracked up to be. During those cold (depressing) months a George Foreman was often the best means to an end when it came to preparing your favorite foods whether that be weiners, pineapple, or poptarts. As we all know, this convenience doesn’t come without consequence (ie: photo below). The mess is unbearable. Even in later years Boy George designed a system with removable plates…but everyone knew this didn’t help dampen all the bullshit. Plus, how can one ignore the fact that one is cooking on a plastic iPod-cookware-futuristic-type-looking device. (One can’t.)
Flash foward to adulthood. Flash forward to driving down the freeway. Flash forward to going to Target. Flash forward to the Cookware Aisle. Flash forward to the best thing thats happened to me since puberty– The Double Sided Cast Iron Stove Top Griddle. The what-chu-say what? This bad boy is heavy…and it costs as much as if not more than a George Foreman Grill. But guess what. It’s amazing. It’s worth it. (See Photo Below). It has two sides. Say you want pancakes….Boom…flat side. Say you want steak…Boom…ridged side. It’s a complete home cooking system. In one.
I apparently haven’t fully grown into maturity yet, because in a bout of foolishness 3 weeks ago I bought a George Foreman thinking I was improving my quality of life and insuring myself some sort of ’convenience’ during my meal time preparation. Boy was I wrong – Dead wrong. I just prepared Filet Mignon on my new Cast Iron Double-Sided Stove Top Griddle and boy did it made the meat sing. Literally sing. It was the best piece of meat I had cooked inside of my home…probably ever (as opposed to a grill which is outside of one’s home). I wish I had invested in one of these earlier. Not only am I happy with my new lifestyle choice, but I would urge all of you to invest in one of these as well. And the best part? It’s Cast Iron. Cast Iron is baller as hell. Think about that.
Look, I’ve even done the work for you. Buy one.
*Cooking with said Griddle was used in conjunction with a gas stove. If you happen to be cooking with electric I would suggest buying a new oven (but for other reasons than just cooking with one of these bad boys).
Over and out….time for Trailer Park Boys.
