That’s the official trailer for Blocks. I worked very closely with sir Eric Rothman on that elegant piece of art, and man did that guy do a fantastic job. Thank you so much Eric, you are a true professional.

If you still don’t know what Blocks is, it’s a game that several Juicers have been making at a company called Darkwind Media. We’ve spent a lot of time designing, polishing, testing, refining, testing again, so on and so forth. We’ve even had a beta testing pizza party, where we invited about 50 people to come in and give us feedback, complete with interviews and surveys. We’re riding the express train to legit-town my friends, and this is the first game of hopefully many more to come.

We’re planning on entering Blocks into 4 game development competitions this year, starting first with www.indiepubgames.com. Voting begins August 1st and lasts until August 31st. If you feel like you want to support our efforts, swing by that site and vote for us. You can also join our Facebook group from the website, where we are amassing an army of followers to help spread the word and vote for the various competitions.

Last night was an epic night in geometry wars history, atleast for me it was.

It all began when I came home from hanging out with some buddies in the durty south around midnight.  I sat down at my desk and turned on my sbox to play a few casual rounds of Geometry Wars Evolved 2.  When the game select menu appeared on my monitor I couldn’t believe eyes.  “Choofins” was promptly displayed in the number one spot for Pacifism with a high score of 580,526,325.

I was shocked… there had been no changes in high score rankings for weeks and all of a sudden Choof tops my score by over 100 million points!!!  The casual few rounds I was about to play suddenly evolved into a serious session of gaming requiring my full concentration.  The stakes were high, my pride was on the line.

After a few rounds I can was getting no where, not even breaking 100 mil.  Frustration was starting to set in when suddenly a certain someone pops onto xbox live.  “Choofins is online”.  Sheatballz, I had to face my pwnage so I hit him up with a chat invite.

Choof jumps on, I congratulate him the best I can without letting slip my shear disappointment in myself.  Geo wars has become more of a game for me recently, almost a defining part of my character.  I can’t let Choof knock me down a peg!

We talk strats and have a good time on chat while we both play Geo Wars in our respective single player games.  The whole time I was thinking in the back of my head, “man it would be great if I could serve up a new high score while on chat with Choof”.  I am starting to make a little headway, 200 mil  round here and there but still not very consistent.

Then, it happens.  I hit a rhythm.  Choof and I are talking old school lore back from our days at RIT.  I am riding the blue wave.  Choof says, “alright man I gotta get going in 5 mins”.  As he drops that bomb I see in the top left of the screen that I just broke 500 mil, I couldn’t believe it.  I am a few gates away from breaking new territory.  My multiplier is stacked up beyond anything I had ever seen.  BLAM! I meet my end but emerge with a new high score of 754,466,100.

My heart was pounding, adrenaline rushing through my body.  All I can muster up is “… Choof take a look at the menu screen”, while chewing back my inclination to shreak with excitement.  No exaggeration there, I am such a nerd that I was actually about to fall out of my chair with excitement.

Choof and I both rejoice in the new ground we covered.  I say we because there is no way in hell I would push myself without the amazing competition Choof and I have going on over here.  Our goal is to break the 1 billion mark and become one of the top 100 players in the world at this game mode.  Hats off to Choof, I am sure he will come back and crush my score soon.
