From here:

Google is planning to launch an experiment that we hope will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. We plan to test ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country. Our networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today over 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We’ll offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.

From now until March 26th, we’re asking interested municipalities to provide us with information about their communities through a Request for information (RFI), which we’ll use to determine where to build our network.

You know what would make for a perfect test community?

For those who have known me forever (I am looking at you, Kyle) you may be aware that I have been an extreme nail-biter since I can remember. It is now February 10th and I haven’t bitten my nails in over a month.

I would like to document what it was like biting my nails, what I tried in the past to discontinue this habit, and what has helped me stop.

I would like to share an article with all of you that I find particularly interesting. It is entitled, ‘7 reasons the 21st century is making you miserable‘. (It’s kind of old, but I was yet again reminded of it’s brilliance today.)

I would go so far to say that the people at JUICE spend a large amount of their time online and thusly can relate to the benefits and the drawbacks of having a large portion of your lifestyle dedicated to the digital space. I frequently joke about how I ‘hate the internet’…and at times I do. I also love it. I think a large part of the reason I love this article so much is because in the advertising world we are constantly trying to find the positive connections that the internet gives us. As advertisers, you have to constantly be optimistic about where our digital lifestyle is taking us. I would often find myself sitting in a brainstorm unable to focus on the discussion because I was too distracted by the elephant in the room: The 21st century is making us miserable. This article talks about just that. I have always been a fan of the writers at Cracked.com and think they have done a wonderful job on this one as well.

For the record, I don’t think this is the only argument as to why the internet is good or bad. I think there is a lot more content out there proving that it is good. However, I do think that this article does a great job of summating the bad in one fell swoop. Enjoy at your own discretion.

Hung up on after: 1:06:13

I called Western Digital to request an RMA for a device i got that was defective when I opened it. Their robotic service directed me quickly to a representative who is to help me get my RMA supposedly.

We have not yet even addressed what is wrong with the device. He asked for my name and the serial number on the device. After I gave him my serial number, he told me that he had to put me on hold. It has been about 50 minutes since he put me on hold so I thought I would live blog the action. I wonder how long it is going to take after he comes back and I actually tell him what is wrong with the device. Also, with the information I gave him, what in the world could take him so long? All he should need to do is look up my device, right? I think he went to lunch.

12:49 PM (54:40 call time) – Still on hold.

So last weekend I moved my little baby squirrel in to the “The House”. I did a lot to the room to get it ready. I installed a vinyl door, patched all the holes, bought an orange tree from the flower district in the city, put curtains on the window, draped a piece of fabric on the ceiling so he can climb, put 2 huge branches in the corners of my room, etc.

So here he is! Amy took these amazing pictures for me. My 3 year old Northern Flying Squirrel. He’s my pal

“Run This Town” on Blueprint 3 / Roc Nation

I will buy this song when it becomes available. Featured 20 minutes before Superbowl XLIV.

To quote MisterSnig from Youtube, “If there’s one thing I like, it’s rap over an orchestral beat.”

Fun Fact: E.S. Posthumus does the theme song for the NFL on CBS. The song is called The Posthumus Zone.
