VVVVVV – Yeah, that’s the name of the game.
Those Vs stand for “OH FUCK SPIKEY ONE HIT MURDER-DEATH-KILLS!”
You can play the two level (it’ll take ya a good 20 minutes) demo here.
If you’re willing to take the plunge for the full game ($15, but hey, indie gaming!) you can purchase it here.
(Plus, how sweet of a domain name is that.)

I played the ever living shiznizzle out of this demo and loved the solid gameplay/presentation of the game. But what stood out the most to me was the epic music! I wish I could download the soundtrack to this beast. Brings me back… brings me back.

Instead of getting frustrated, I found myself giggling at the really difficult parts. I think that’s a good sign.

I love how he names each room. I was able to explore a bit in the laboratory stage, but felt like I missed some stuff on the spaceship level. I went pretty much straight through it, even though at the end it looks like there’s some alternate route. Anybody know anything about that?

Holy shit…I just played through one of Cavanagh’s other games, “Don’t Look Back” It is truly a thing of beauty. Took me about 20 minutes to play through; I highly recommend it: http://www.kongregate.com/games/TerryCavanagh/dont-look-back

Played through “Don’t Look Back” on Eric’s recommendation, and I have to agree with him. There’s something about these games that just screams quality. They’re simple and, dare I say, elegant? I feel like I just read a novella. Also, the sounds and tunes are really well done.
Thanks Rob for enlightening me.

I just beat VVVVVV last night, took about 2.75 hours overall, and I died a total of 1149 times.
I blame the majority of the deaths on this level:
