Motorola Droid Website Available [Update: Video]
Well I don’t think this was supposed to happen, but there’s been weirder. All that work hyping up the Droid with www.droiddoes.com (complete with an cryptic countdown that nerds later figured out ends on the 28th), attack commercials, mailing paper fliers out to specific members of the press for an exclusive invite-only event on the 28th…only to be thrown off track by the phone manufacturer? If they aren’t waiting to release the specs and features on the 28th, I wonder what Verizon has up their sleeves for the event next Wednesday.
As I was putting the final touches on my post, Motorola just took down the site. I wonder if someone made a big mistake or if they’re playing games here. Either way, I was able to snag some screenshots before it went down. Here are the specs.
By the way, Best Buy is rumored to have this phone available non-contract for $599. This number looks pretty solid considering that Verizon should knock it down to $199-$250 with a 2-year contract.
[Update] Here’s a video of someone navigating the site if you’re interested.
Welcome to the Microsoft Store!
It’s been almost a year since I made this post regarding Windows 7 (and let me be the first to admit that in retrospect that comes off really Apple fanboy-ish, and after using Win7 @ work for the last month or so, it’s actually a terrific update to XP & Vista and a great OS in its own right), but this is just too damn familiar to another OS-vendor-specific store…
I understand that grand opening store excitement isn’t a copyrighted feature of ANY retail store, but come on…
Auto Tune the Carl Sagan Part II
The creator of the auto tuned Carl Sagan song, “A Glorious Dawn”, has come out with another ditty. This one is called “We Are All Connected”.
The lyrics are good, but the music doesn’t hold a candle to the first one in my opinion.
10/GUI
Maybe some of you have seen it, maybe some of you haven’t.
It’s an interesting idea, in my opinion. I don’t know how I feel about the “horizontal bar” of applications.
Droid Does – Marketing Begins For Verizon’s First Android Phone
It’s official, the first Verizon Android phone will be called Droid. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this news for a long, long time and I could not be more excited.
Last week I posted about Verizon’s jab at AT&T and the iPhone with their “There’s a map for that” advertisement. As I suspected, it was the opener to this right uppercut. It doesn’t look like they’re going to stop anytime soon, either. I hope Apple is ready for a ruthless marketing battle, because it’s about to get real.
Hell yeah.
Obama to GOP: Grab a Mop – Let’s Make It Happen
That’s all I am going to say. Worth a read. Definitely worth a read.
Obama to GOP: “Grab a Mop.” This is political gold (and we need to use it)
Samsung Flexible OLED Display Prototype
There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about flexible OLED displays. Samsung released a brief video of a prototype they’ve been working on that really shows what we’re going to be seeing in a few years.
This is a big step forward with display technology. I cannot wait to see this go mainstream. The possibilities are endless. Smart buildings & smart cities are coming!
