Droid Does – Marketing Begins For Verizon’s First Android Phone
It’s official, the first Verizon Android phone will be called Droid. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this news for a long, long time and I could not be more excited.
Last week I posted about Verizon’s jab at AT&T and the iPhone with their “There’s a map for that” advertisement. As I suspected, it was the opener to this right uppercut. It doesn’t look like they’re going to stop anytime soon, either. I hope Apple is ready for a ruthless marketing battle, because it’s about to get real.
Hell yeah.

I also found it interesting that this appeared at the bottom of my confirmation email:
“DROID is a registered trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies. Used under license.”

It bothers me that I just got a new phone, and NOW android comes to Verizon. I’ve been waiting for this as well for the better part of a year.

I’ve been holding off on a new phone for far too long, but I’m glad my wait will soon be over.
What network are you on? Did you sign a contract? This is the first big player for Android phones. There are going to be a ton of great phones released in 2010, more powerful than this and on other networks too.

I’m on Verizon, so it’s not that bad. I’d never go on another network. I’ve had the V for so long without any issues, and I get coverage in the most obscure places. I am on contract, but I’m not sure if contracts disallow you to change the phone you use. I just don’t want to upgrade because my phone right now is awesome. Touch screen, full keyboard, etc.
I would like a phone with inclusive internet usage. It seems like AT&T have better options for data plans, but that could just be ignorance on my part. I’ve yet to really look anything up.
