Quimby the Mouse by Chris Ware
Saw this when it was played on This American Life – Live!, but never knew it was put up on Vimeo.
I love that Andrew Bird song that the short is accompanied by.
And Chris Ware just rocks ass on all levels.

Don’t really like this. Decent art, but overall story is kinda lame.

“Quimby” has never been the best of C. Ware’s work, and I don’t think full out animation is really the best first impression one can have of his catalog.
Usually when Ware does stuff for This American Life, it’s a collection of panels set to music and the Ira Glass’s narration of a tale.

As far as story goes, I believe that’s better, but it’s not really representative of Ware’s plotting/storytelling (other than his purely visual storytelling). Next time I know I’m gonna run into you, or the next time you’re at a library, I’d recommend “Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth”. That would be a better
