Time Wastes Too Fast, by Maira Kalman
A quick, indescribably entertaining (and informative!) blog post from Maira Kalma, in admiration of the life and thoughts of Thomas Jefferson. Accompanied by some pretty awesome artwork and really cool photographs.

Man alive, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for someone to post one of Maira Kalman’s NYT postings. I love her illustrations and the eccentric details she tends to touch upon.
On a somewhat related note, Thomas Jefferson is a badass in almost every manner. When he designed the weathervane for Monticello, he had it tied to a compass rose that was planted on the ceiling of Northeast Portico… essentially his front porch.
When he wanted to know what direction the wind was blowing he would simply go to his front porch and look up, as opposed to running outside and trying to get an eye of what direction the arrow at the top of his house was pointing to.
