Stuck in My Head, Tuesday, 6:27 PM EST, 6/30/09
Holy shit, this song is great:
In Season Right This Minute…
Apricots
Hard-Necked Garlic
Blueberries
Green beans
Coming Soon:
Nectarines and peaches in abundance
Peppers in abundance
Cherry tomatoes
In case you were wondering…

Joe’s Blues/Funk Review : Episode 7 – “Medeski Martin & Wood”

I’m sure some of you have heard of this band before. They’re a very talented Brooklyn-based jazz/funk band that gear their albums towards kids, although most of their listeners are 20-30 somethings. They play songs such as “Hickory Dickory Dock”, but add their avant-garde, funk, hip-hop style to them. It’s not really something I’d listen to all the time, but it’s perfect for parents who want to play songs for their kids, but want to enjoy it themselves. Juicers, keep these guys in mind when you have a little bastard of your own baking in the oven.

Favoritism: Blogs
Let’s cut to the chase.
I visit other sites besides juicetheblog (as I imagine the rest of you all do).
Here are some of my other most read ones (whom will have a permanent placement on my “Best Reads” RSS folder):
Offworld: BoingBoing’s gaming spin-off site. It’s a fantastic place to keep up-to-date with the most interesting happenings in gaming culture, both independent and mainstream. Bonus points for having a clean design and good signal-to-noise ratio as far as quality/douchebag commenters are concerned.
Daring Fireball: John Gruber’s blog revolving mainly around Apple/Mac/iPhone related news, but often venturing out into other topics such as: checkers, writing, pop-culture and more.
Kottke : Jason Kottke’s “weblog about the liberal arts 2.0″ which is really just a front for a listing of the some most interesting pieces of multimedia and/or writing on the Internet. Highly recommended.
Now I have others, but I’m really interested in finding out about some other gems from the rest of you, my esteemed fellow Juicers.
(Feel free to edit the post, or post your picks in the comments, I don’t really care).
Time Wastes Too Fast, by Maira Kalman
A quick, indescribably entertaining (and informative!) blog post from Maira Kalma, in admiration of the life and thoughts of Thomas Jefferson. Accompanied by some pretty awesome artwork and really cool photographs.
Michael Jackson Dies From Cardiac Arrest
Michael Jackson, 50, died due to cardiac arrest inside of his home earlier this afternoon. The staff found him and called the paramedics, but he was dead by the time they got there.
Update: MSNBC recently mentioned this about today’s shocking news:
“So many people wanted to verify the early reports of Jackson’s death that the computers running Google’s news section interpreted the fusillade of “Michael Jackson” requests as an automated attack for about half an hour Thursday evening.”
Civilization by Marco Brambilla
Marco Brambilla (director of Demolition Man), brings the world this piece:
Civilization, a video mural created for the new Standard hotel in New York City, depicts a journey from hell to heaven interpreted through modern film language using computer-enhanced found footage. This epic video mural contains over 300 individual channels of looped video blended into a multi-layered seamless tableau of interconnecting images that illustrate a contemporary, satirical take on the concepts of Heaven and Hell.
I think it’s rad and trippy as all heck (watch for the Stay-Puft Marshmellow man cameo, Joey!)
He’s Barack Obama
JibJab rolls out another impressive short:
Heat or Ice?
This gets debated way more often than it should. Listen closely, and remember this: if you sustain a sports-type injury, you should ALWAYS reach for an ICE pack. DON’T APPLY HEAT, you’ll only lenghten your recovery time.
I can think only think of one instance where heat application is constructive: menstrual cramps. Heat loosens the muscles and increases blood flow, which both help improve the condition.
Heat is recommended a lot for lower back pain, but the academic support is flimsy at best. Usually, back pain is the result of long term load-bearing problems (i.e. heavy lifting, poor posture, inadequate mattress) and can only be alleviated by heat. Remedy requires behavioral changes.
